There are few grapes, perhaps no grapes, as simply charming as Barbera. Look long and far and you’re unlikely to find a wine lover who doesn’t absolutely adore this Piemontese gem. Within that, I have had few Barberas recently that have me more excited than De Forville’s version from Asti. Leaning towards the spritely and lifted side of the spectrum (as opposed to Alba’s more broad-shouldered and hard-edged versions), their Asti Barbera is all about ripe Bing cherry and savory balsam with incredible length.
